Jason Momoa in 'Conan The Barbarian'.
The hunky actor is set to join the Batman V Superman cast.
Hawaiian-born Jason Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis, Game Of Thrones) is to become blonde-haired, telepathic underwater inhabitant Aquaman for Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
The appearance is a stepping stone towards Zack Snyder’s follow-up for Warner Bros and DC Comics’ Justice League, which is to accommodate an ensemble cast similar in scope to Marvel’s The Avengers.
Ben Affleck is already in place as Batman, with Henry Cavill reprising the role of Superman in the May 2016 movie.
Other announced cast members include Jesse Eisenberg as villain Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and newcomer Ray Fisher as Cyborg.
Aquaman isn’t going to be a principal character, according to an early announcement from Hitflix, but will be used to show that Supes is hardly the world’s best friend after the destructive finale to Man Of Steel.
The actor had previously denied the rumours, requesting a stop to questions about it and making a joke of the matter at the East European Comic Con in Bucharest and Detroit’s Motor City Comic Con this past May.
“I couldn’t be more random for Aquaman,” he’d told fans at the East European Comic Con earlier in the month (via ComicBookMovie ). “Who pulls that out? I see that on the Internet and I’m like, Aquaman?” he said, spiking the online rumour mill.
But Hitflix is adamant that Momoa’s part is nailed on: “While Warner Bros hasn’t made that announcement officially yet, HitFix can confirm that he will be playing the part,” the outlet maintained. — AFP Relaxnews
