The Malaysian and Hong Kong comic industries have collaborated once again for the first ever Malaysia-Hong Kong International Comic Week 2024 from now until May 12, at the Curve Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

This follows the success of the Hong Kong Pavilion at Comic Fiesta 2023 last December.

Co-organised by Majikku IP, Comiccker Union, and the Curve, the highlight of the event will be an exhibition featuring prints of original paintings by 10 comic artists from Malaysia and Hong Kong, featuring works from classic Hong Kong comic books and other masterpieces in a variety of different styles.

The main draw of the event is veteran Hong Kong comics creator Jack Fung Chi-ming, who is best known for iconic comics like Dao Jian Xiao (The Three Swordsmen) and Ba Dao (Tyrant Sword); and Kwong Sai-kit, whose Quan Wang (King Of Fighters) title is well-known to fans of Hong Kong comic books. Kwong is the son of veteran Chinese comic creator, Shangguan Xiaobao.

Other prominent Hong Kong creators include Jeffery Kwong (The Architect’s Epiphany, Indigo), Wah Kee (My Soul Mate), and Jerry Cho (Naraka Warrior), whose works are also well-known to Malaysian comic fans, as they have been translated to Bahasa Malaysia and released in here to good response.

The Malaysian lineup will also feature some of the country’s most prominent comic creators, including Black Jellyfish, whose works have ranked first in Popular Bookstore’s best-selling charts for three consecutive years.

Other well-known Malaysian names who will be at the event include popular webcomic creators like Olive Yong (BICHI MAO) and Lok (Relaxed Comic), graphic illustrator Miin, and well-known cartoonist and YouTuber Mist.

These creators will also be present at the event to meet fans, sign autographs, and hold drawing demonstrations.
