In an age of digital everything, a good pen has its place

As technology progresses, fewer and fewer people write with fountain pens.

AS we spend more time on keyboards, touch screens, the web and browsers, sometimes its nice to connect with the simpler things in life. One of my own personal pleasures is writing — with a pen and a piece of paper. But not just any pen, not just any paper. For many years, I have been a quiet fan of fountain pens and its time I came out and faced the digital world with my ancient writing piece proudly held up high.

Why, you may ask? What’s wrong with the crystal clarity of a flat panel, the dependable serif of Times New Roman? I admit that email, articles and Powerpoint benefit hugely from electronic media, but there’s nothing to match the experience of uncapping a gold-tipped fountain pen and just writing.
