Clean energy edging out coal on sustainability

SHANGHAI: The increasing output and expanding use of clean energy in China have continuously reduced the share of coal consumption in overall energy consumption, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said in its annual communique released recently.

Last year, the country’s coal consumption accounted for 56.8% of energy consumption, down from 64% in 2015.
