Trade body sees higher vehicle sales in November

In a statement yesterday, the association said sales volume in January was 19% or 10,154 units lower than December 2017.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) expects vehicle sales to be slightly better in November following the launch of new models and aggressive year-end promotional campaigns.

It said on Friday sales of passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles rose by 0.5% in October to 47,273 units from 47,041 units a year ago.

Of the total in October, the MAA said 42,263 were passenger vehicles and the remaining 4,909 were commercial vehicles.

MAA also said October sales were up 5.1% when compared with September due to the availability of stocks following the surge in sales during the zero GST period from June 1 to Aug 31.

The total industry volume (TIV) from January to October was 6% higher at 502,244 units compared with 472,719 in the previous corresponding period.

Of the 502,244 units, the MAA said 447,412 were passenger vehicles and the remaining 54,832 commercial vehicles.
