Media Prima appoints Mustapha Kamil as exec director, news and editorial ops


In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Country View said that the acquisition

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd has appointed Mustapha Kamil Mohd Janor as executive director of news and editorial operations.

In a statement, the group announced that Mustapha Kamil had also been appointed to the board of Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Bhd and The New Straits Times Press Bhd effective immediately.

Mustapha Kamil will be responsible for the overall operations of Media Prima news and editorial functions. 

"He will provide the strategic direction and oversight of Media Prima Television Networks and NSTP news operations, and will focus on optimising the Group's news resources in-line with Media Prima’s business transformation efforts," said the group.

According to the statement, Mustapha Kamil, 57, has 26 years of experience in journalism. 

He began his career as a Cadet Reporter at NSTP in 1989 and held various positions in the company including NSTP Foreign Correspondent in New York, Managing Editor of Business Times, and Group Editor of New Straits Times until his resignation in May 2016.
