KUALA LUMPUR: North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted US$2.39bil in billings worldwide in December 2017, on a three-month average basis.
The US-based Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers Industry (SEMI) said on Tuesday the billings figure was 16.3% higher than the final November 2017 level of US$2.05bil.
The sales were also 27.7% higher than the December 2016 billings of US$1.87bil.
“December 2017 monthly billings for North American equipment manufacturers ended the year at the highest levels in this record-breaking year,” said Ajit Manocha, president and CEO of SEMI.
“For 2017, total billings for North American equipment companies soared over 40% compared to 2016."
According to SEMI data, July 2017 sales were up 32.9% on-year to US$2.27bil while for August sales rose 27.7% to US$2.18bil and in September, sales jumped 37.6% to US$2.05bil.
In October, sales gained 23.9% to US$2.019bil and in November, sales advanced 27.2% to US$2.05bil.
