's unit Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) will have a 4DX theater, the first of its kind in Malaysia, at the GSC Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru.
The innovative 4DX cinema technology featuring moving seats and environmental effects followed the signing of an MoU between GSC and CJ 4DPLEX.
The GSC Paradigm Mall theatre is GSC's only site in Johor. GSC is Malaysia's largest cinema exhibitor, which operates a total of 328 auditoriums in 35 locations across the country. GSC also operates 73 auditoriums at 12 locations in Vietnam.
The announcement was made at the CineAsia trade show being held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Dec 11 to 14.
The CEO of GSC Koh Mei Lee said the company was committed to innovating and diversifying our offerings to deliver new and enriching cinema experiences for customers.
“Our partnership with 4DX is the next step for us to bring to life the magic of cinema, as 4DX intensifies the experience of the movies to be even more immersive, engaging, and meaningful than before," she said.
Koh said 4DX, as one of the world's leading technologies in premium cinematic entertainment, would transform the way Malaysians enjoy films at the cinemas, offering unforgettable sensory experiences.
“We look forward to a long and successful partnership with 4DX, as we aim to extend the 4D cinematic experience to movie-goers all over the country," she added.
CEO of CJ 4DPLEX Choi Byung-Hwan said this was the company's foray into Malaysia by offering the 4DX.
“We are very excited into a new market and looking forward to offering this unique moviegoing experience to Malaysian movie fans,” he added.
