KUALA LUMPUR: The authorities are looking to allow retail investors to buy bonds and sukuk sold in the wholesale market, a move that will open up this asset class to the man on the street, by the first quarter of next year.
Although a retail bond framework already exists, bond and sukuk issuers have preferred to issue their papers in the wholesale bond market, where only institutional investors and high-net-worth investors are able to participate.
