PetDag targets 25% yoy sales growth in food segment

Analysts had been skeptical about the project's prospects given current low gas prices and constraints facing state-run Petronas, which has been cutting costs to deal with lower profits and cash flow.

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Dagangan Bhd, the domestic marketing arm of national oil company Petronas, aims to achieve over 25% year-on-year growth in sales in its food segment.

Petronas Dagangan Retail Business Division Marketing Department Head Abang Jimmy Abang Mordian said this would be driven by a wider selection of breakfast combos through its Mornings@Mesra breakfast options, currently available at over 450 participating Petronas stations.

“We launched the first phase of Mornings@Mesra in March and received an overwhelming response. We aim to expand our breakfast combo, which comes with local delicacies and a can of Milo or Nescafe, priced at RM5,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of Mornings@Mesra second phase here today.

He said the increase in the number of participating outlets has also increased the number of food vendors who mainly comprised small entrepreneurs from sub-urban and small towns areas.

“We can't really tell how many vendors we have currently as they vary from station to station.

“What is important is that this creates an avenue for them to increase their income to make ends meet,” Abang Jimmy said.

He said as part of the promotion, Petronas Dagangan has tied up with Lazada Malaysia Bhd and Digi.com Bhd to extend greater value-add for its customers.

“Between now and Nov 15, customers who buy five Mornings@Mesra Breakfast combo sets will receive a 10 per cent Lazada discount voucher worth RM15,” he said.

Abang Jimmy said that for a month beginning Nov 15, Digi customers will be entitled to buy the breakfast combo pack at 99 sen by downloading the Superdeal from MyDigi app and present it at the participating  Petronas' Mesra outlets. The offer was limited to one voucher per user, he said.

“To ensure the offer reaches a wider audience, Petronas Dagangan will also roll out complimentary breakfast giveaways at selected regions outside the Klang Valley, starting with Raub (Oct 9) and Bintulu (Oct 27), he said. - Bernama
