SMRT Holdings unaware of unusual market actitivty

KUALA LUMPUR: Education and human resource provider SMRT Holdings Bhd had halted the trading in the last hour on Thursday after it told the regulator it was unaware of the reasons for the unusual market activity (UMA).

Trading was halted from 4.07pm on Thursday and will resume at 9am on Friday.

SMRT said it had inquired with the directors, substantial shareholders and such other relevant persons on the reasons for the UMA.

However, it is unaware of any possible explanation to account for the UMA and the increase in share price and volume of activity.

“There is no corporate development relating to the group’s business including those in the stage of negotiation or discussion that has not been previously announced that may account for the trading activity.

“There is no rumour or report concerning the business and affairs of the group that may account for the UMA,” it said.

It was trading at 22 sen, up three sen before trading was halted.
