Boustead Holdings’ earnings tumble 74%

PETALING JAYA: Boustead Holdings Bhd recorded a 74% drop in earnings to RM59.3mil for the second quarter ended June 30, 2017, compared to a year earlier.

According to a Bursa Malaysia filing, this was due to the absence of the gains realised in the corresponding period last year, namely the RM209.5mil divestment of the group’s associate company Jendela Hikmat as well as the diaposal of a plantation land amounting to RM124.2mil.

However, its revenue for the quarter rose 15% to RM2.39bil.

The board of directors have declared a second interim dividend of three sen per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2017, which will be paid out to shareholders on Sept 28..

On a six-month basis, the group’s earnings fell to RM63.5mil from RM204.3mil during the previous corresponding period.
