Sluggish start for Bursa Malaysia, ringgit up

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia was in the red in early Thursday trade, weighed down by profit taking after the dismal Wall Street as investors await the release of more corporate announcements for the quarter ended June 30.

At 9.38am, the FBM KLCI was down 1.66  points or 0.09% lower at 1,771.28, extending its slight decline from the previous day.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.15% in early trade. Japan's Nikkei pulled back 0.25% on a stronger yen.
