Trading ideas: MLabs, PChem, MMC, O&C Resources, Sunway REIT

KUALA LUMPUR: MLabs, Petronas Chemicals, MMC, O&C Resources, Sunway REIT and ECS ICT are among the stocks which could see trading interest after their corporate announcements, according to JF Apex Research.

MLabs unit Multimedia Research Lab Sdn Bhd has teamed up with Thailand's Onliner Company Ltd to share and exploit IT technologies to develop new markets in Thailand and overseas.

Onliner will design and set up free wifi and e-commerce services in Chatuchak Market, and will also develop a business model to generate revenue and earnings from the provision of service;

As for Petronas Chemicals, the research house said the 2QFY17 net profit rose 109% on-year, as revenue increased on higher sales volume and prices.

Meanwhile, MMC has confirmed that it is in talks with Sabah-controlled Suria Capital to take up a stake in the latter's unit Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd;

O&C Resources inked a 50:50 joint venture with Yayasan Pahang to undertake a RM166mil mixed development project in Kuantan.

Sunway REIT recorded a 9.3% on-year rise in its 4QFY17 net property income, on higher contributions from the retail and hotel segments, and gradual improvement from the office segment.

As for ECS ICT, its 2QFY17 net profit fell by 20.4% on-year dragged down by its enterprise systems division's lower gross profit margins.

JF Apex Research said US markets tumbled overnight following rising geopolitical tension between the US and North Korea. Earlier, European stocks declined sharply as North Korea is outlining plans for a missile attack near Guam.

At Bursa, the FBM KLCI shed 0.17 point to end at 1,777.77.

“Following the bearish performance in the US and Europe, the KLCI could decline further towards the support of 1,750,” it said.
