KUALA LUMPUR: BIMB Holdings Bhd (BHB) has appointed Khairul Kamarudin (pic) as its chief executive officer (CEO) effective Wednesday, about two months after he became CEO of BHB’s unit Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd.

In a statement, BHB said his experience in the Malaysian corporate scene spanned more than 21 years, including tenures at PricewaterhouseCoopers (M) Sdn Bhd and Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd.

Khairul assumed the post of CEO of Bank Islam on June 14.

According to the statement, he joined Bank Islam in 2005 and played a vital role in leading the asset recovery for the bank during the turnaround and transformation years

“He was instrumental in transforming the retail business of the bank by introducing an aggressive sales approach, well balanced with a risk-based performance culture,” BHB said.

Khairul was promoted to deputy CEO of Bank Islam last year, and was responsible for driving the overall profitability and growth of all the business divisions.
