KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Indonesia’s net profit after tax and minority interests (Patami) rose 16.3% to 998.5 billion rupiah (RM320.8mil) in the first half ended June 30, 2017 (H1 2017) from 858.4 billion rupiah (RM275.8mil) in the same period last year.

The better performance was supported by overall improvement in core banking business, the bank said in a statement on Thursday.

Maybank Indonesia or PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk, one of the leading private banks in Indonesia and now part of Malayan Banking Bhd, said it recorded net interest income (NII) of 3.8 trillion rupiah (RM1.22bil) in H1 2017, up 7% from 3.6 trillion rupiah (RM1.16bil) in same period in 2016.

“The increase in NII was mainly a result of the bank’s discipline in loan pricing and active funding management,” it said.

The bank also reported an increase of 5.3% in its net interest margin compared with 5% at end-June 2016.

Meanwhile, the bank said its fee-based income rose by 9.1% to 1.5 trillion rupiah (RM481.9mil) from 1.3 trillion rupiah, through bancassurance, loan recovery, remittances, and other services. - Bernama
