Metronic Global removes chief financial officer

KUALA LUMPUR: Metronic Global Bhd has removed its chief financial officer Eric Boon Chuan Kit for “his deemed obstruction and compromising the independency” of a special audit launched in May to review certain projects and transactions undertaken by the group.

The intelligent building management systems specialist, which appointed Ferrier Hodgson MH Sdn Bhd on May 2 as a special auditor, told Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday that Boon, 44, was removed effective the same day and police reports had been filed.

Among the projects/transactions being reviewed under the special audit, which is expected to be completed this month, are loan from former directors, its fertilisers business, and the acquisition of antiques and paintings.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016, the Metronic group incurred a comprehensive loss attributable to shareholders of RM5mil but revenue increased 32% to RM48.1mil.
