Malakoff managing director and chairman resign


Datuk Hasni Harun was appointed as the new chairman of Malakoff.


KUALA LUMPUR: Malakoff Corporation Bhd's managing director Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid is resigning with effect from June 30.

The independent power producer also announced on Tuesday that Tan Sri Syed Zainol Anwar ibni Syed Putra Jamalullail was stepping down as its independent chairman with effect on Tuesday.

Malakoff said Datuk Hasni Harun was appointed as the new chairman.

It said Azhar, 56, was resigning due to personal and professional reasons. He was appointed as the group managing director on May 1, 2016.

As for Syed Zainol Anwar, 65, he is currently the chairman of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd and Lembaga Zakat Selangor.

Malakoff said Hasni is currently the chairman of Gas Malaysia Bhd and a director of Permodalan Felcra Sdn Bhd.

Malakoff also announced that its executive vice president, operations Habib Husin had been appointed as chief executive officer with effect from July1.

Habib, 57, has been the executive vice president for operations since Aug 3, 2015. He was the chief operating officer from October 2010 to August 2015.
