Higher foreign reserves at end-May

PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara’s international reserves rose US$700mil to US$98bil as at May 31 from US$97.3bil two weeks ago.

The central bank said its reserves, in ringgit terms, rose RM2.8bil to RM433.3bil from RM430.5bil.

It said the international reserves were sufficient to finance 8.1 months of retained imports and it was 1.1 times the short-term external debt.
