Malaysia Airports names Syed Zainol Anwar as chairman


Syed Zainol Anwar is currently chairman of Nestle (M) Bhd, Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd, and Malakoff Corp Bhd, among others.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has appointed Tan Sri Syed Zainol Anwar Syed Putra Jamalullail as chairman to replace Tan Sri Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah.

In a statement, the airport operator said Wan Abdul Aziz, 65, resigned as director and chairman effective Tuesday following the expiry of his contract after holding the position for five years.

MAHB noted that during his stewardship, the company made significant achievements such as the opening of klia2 and full acquisition of Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Turkey, as well as the opening of Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA as a catalyst to KLIA Aeropolis.

“His guidance and commitment at the board has also steered the company towards charting its next phase of growth in Malaysia Airports’ five-year business plan Runway to Success 2020 (RtS2020) and launching of the KLIA Aeropolis Master Plan,” the company said.
 
Syed Zainol Anwar, 65, succeeds Wan Abdul Aziz effective Wednesday. He kickstarted his career at Malaysia Airlines Systems Bhd in 1975 as a financial accountant.

He is currently chairman of Nestle (M) Bhd, Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd, Malakoff Corp Bhd, Lembaga Zakat Selangor and Pulau Indah Ventures Sdn. Bhd. He is also the chancellor of SEGi University.
