Takaful Malaysia’s Q1 pre-tax profit up by a quarter

Takaful Malaysia today announce the group financial results and growth strategy at their Takaful Malaysia Building in Kuala Lumpur on March 7, 2012.

KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd (Takaful Malaysia) has posted a higher pre-tax profit and zakat of RM72.57mil for the first quarter ended March 31, 2017, up from RM58.17mil in the same period a year ago.

Revenue improved to RM659.84mil from RM633.25mil previously, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

The company attributed the increase in pre-tax profit and zakat in the quarter under review to higher net wakalah fee income, while the higher revenue was mainly contributed by the general takaful segment, especially from fire and motor classes.

“For this year, we will actively cultivate our digital presence through an online sales portal and integrated online marketing initiatives to meet the growing needs of the consumers,” it added. - Bernama
