KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd’s unit Proton Edar Sdn Bhd has appointed Abdul Rashid Musa (pic) as chief executive officer effective Feb 1, replacing Rohime Shafie who has been assigned to DRB-Hicom as the head of automotive in the Automotive Distribution and Manufacturing & Engineering Division.
Proton Edar, which distributes Proton cars and provides sales and after-sales services, said in a statement that Rashid had over 27 years of experience in the automotive field, with involvement in various automotive projects and organisations.
Before this appointment, he was Proton Holdings’ chief technical officer where he held several portfolios, including being instrumental in the development of the four new models in 2016.
He sits on the board of several Proton subsidiaries and was previously the head of several companies within DRB-Hicom Group.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malaya in 1989.
