KUALA LUMPUR: Gabungan AQRS Bhd, through unit Gabungan Strategik Sdn Bhd (GSSB), will act as a turnkey contractor for the new Pahang state administrative complex, Pusat Pentadbiran Sultan Ahmad Shah, under a RM360.98mil subcontract.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday, the construction and property development company said the main contractor, its 30%-owned associate Kreatif Sinar Gabungan Sdn Bhd, had presented it with a letter of award on the construction and completion of all building works, mechanical and engineering works, interior design works and external and infrastructure works of the complex.
Kreatif Sinar Gabungan, which is majority (65%) owned by Tanah Makmur Bhd, was last month awarded a RM415.52mil contract from the state government to develop the complex. This means that the bulk of the contract value will go to Gabungan AQRS.
GSSB unit will ensure that all obligations of the main contractor pursuant to the terms of the main contract are observed and carried out to complete the works.
Tanah Makmur had proposed to undertake the 26-acre project as part of its 1,500-acre Kota Sultan Ahmad Shah (KotaSAS) township development in Kuantan a few years ago.
Although the ground-breaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art administrative complex was held in September 2013, the project had reportedly been put on hold due to funding issues.
The project is now scheduled to be completed by March 2020.
Gabungan AQRS’s unit GSSB has another development project in Kuantan currently -- co-developing PR1MA Homes in a joint-venture with contractor Monolight IBS Building System Sdn Bhd.
