Zahid: More research needed for innovative Islamic banking products

KUALA LUMPUR: The Islamic banking sector has grown but more research needs to be done for more innovative products, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said Islamic banking assets now stood at 27% of the total banking system, while takaful had increased penetration to 14.8% of the population.
