KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has appointed Heitech Padu Bhd to provide two-year maintenance services for its online transaction system, mySikap, for a contract value of RM79.77mil.

The systems integrator, which developed the RM282mil mySikap system with infrastructure support from IBM Malaysia, told Bursa Malaysia that it had received a letter of award from JPJ on Oct 28, which was accepted on Nov 1.

The contract is for the period from November 2016 to December 2018.

The homegrown IT company said any further renewal or extension would be at the Government’s discretion.

Transactions handled by mySikap include vehicle registrations, licence and road tax renewals, change of vehicle ownership and summons payments.

MySikap was rolled out nationwide in November 2013 to replace JPJ’s Sikap system that had been used since 1992, but it was initially plagued by technical glitches that led to delays in renewing driving licences and road tax, among others.

HeiTech Padu said the contract would not have any material effect on the group’s net assets for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2016, and was expected to contribute positively to the group’s future earnings.

Last year the group made a net profit of RM1.21mil on revenue of RM376.24mil.

Half of its revenue came from the public sector, with the JPJ mainframe upgrade project being one of the main contributors.
