KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has installed its heaviest diesel hydrotreater unit (DHT) reactor in its refinery, currently undergoing construction, at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Johor.
“The DHT reactor is an important component of its refinery and critical to the production of Euro 5 Diesel, which will be legislated in Malaysia by September 2020.
“The successful installation not only signifies another important milestone but also complements the overall development of the PIC, which is poised for successful start-up in the first quarter of 2019,” Petronas said in a statement on Wednesday.
The DHT reactor from Italy, measuring 44.26 metres in height, with a diameter of 6.26 metres and a 17.4 centimetre-thick wall, is designed for pressure of 129 bar.
On completion, the PIC refinery would have a refining capacity of 300,000 barrels per day. - Bernama
