MAHB willing to take legal action to maintain klia2 brand

A checked on closed shops in KLIA2 due to bad business turns out to be the other way around as all shops are open and business are as usual, Sepang, December 23, 2014.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) will reserve its right to maintain the klia2 brand including resorting to legal action, said managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali.

Following the recent controversy sparked by AirAsia’s plan to change the klia2 brand to Low-Cost Carrier Terminal 2 (LCCT2), he said it was unnecessary to do so.

“The proposed name change was already causing confusion among passengers. I heard many passengers have gone to the old LCCT. So why create the fuss and confusion?

“The brand stays. I hope Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai will inform AirAsia and we will see what happens next,” he told Bernama after breaking fast at the news agency’s headquarters on Tuesday night.

Badlisham said MAHB welcomed discussions with the Transport Ministry and AirAsia to sort out the root of the issue.

“That (the discussion) is no problem for me but changing the brand name is uncalled for,” he said.

On Tuesday, AirAsia group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said he would be meet Liow today to discuss the proposed klia2 name change.

The low-cost airline suggested renaming klia2 as LCCT2, however, the Transport Ministry had said, last week, that there would be no name change for klia2. - Bernama
