ManagePay eyes more partnerships to drive e-money platform

KUALA LUMPUR: Electronic payment specialist, Managepay Systems Bhd (MPay), is looking to forge more partnership deals with local retailers and merchants to drive significant growth in its e-money platform.

Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer Chew Chee Seng said the company is currently engaging with the Malaysian Retailer Chains Association and Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents to widen its customer base.

The company was also targeting the foreign workers segment to utilise the e-money platform, he said.

Speaking to reporters after the launch of the company's 'MPay Balance Account' here, today, Chew said the e-money platform could be issued either as card-based or network-based and is accessible via mobile phone, Internet and other devices.

MPay Balance Account is an account that an individual can open online at anytime and anywhere without visiting a physical office.

Once the funds are loaded into the account, it will immediately allow the individual to perform online and carry out in-store purchases, bill payment, mobile prepaid reload and so on," the company said in a statement.

MPay will hold its sixth annual general meeting on May 27, 2016.

The company recorded a pre-tax loss of RM10.9 million for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2015, against the pre-tax profit of RM2.6 million previously.

Revenue declined to RM8.7 million from RM10.6 million a year ago. - Bernama
