PETALING JAYA: Malayan Banking Bhd’s unit in Indonesia registered a sharp increase in profits during the first quarter ended March 31 on higher net interest margins, strong growth from fee based income and “outstanding achievement” by its Islamic banking business.
The group expects improved performance for the rest of the year.
