KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) has secured a RM56.8mil contract to build a cold storage processing and distribution centre for GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd, the operator of the Giant chain of hypermarkets and supermarkets in Malaysia.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, MRCB said its unit MRCB Builders Sdn Bhd inked the deal on Tuesday with Jupiter Lagoon Sdn Bhd, a unit of Dairy Farm International Holdings Ltd which also owns 90% in GCH.

The 140,000 sq ft cold storage processing and distribution centre will be built on a 5-acre site in Kajang, Selangor.

MRCB said it would feature super flat floor technology pioneered in Australia.

The project is due for completion by August 2017.
