KUALA LUMPUR: Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) is committed to ensuring good corporate governance throughout the group to improve its image, said president and group chief executive officer, Datuk Zakaria Arshad.

“I will not compromise on any wrongdoing in corporate governance or anything related to integrity in FGV.

“This is to ensure the group’s image remains solid in the eyes of shareholders and investors,” he said in a speech at the Felda Group’s Corporate Governance Awards in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

The text of his speech was made available via a statement to Bernama.

Zakaria said good corporate governance was critical to not only ensuring transparency in a company’s operations, but also guard against any negative perception of its image.

Meanwhile, FGV chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, who also Felda chairman, said the award was in line with the Corporate Integrity Pledge and Integrity Pact which FGV signed with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on April 9, 2012.

The award is also to ensure FGV and Felda’s continued commitment toward a professional, transparent and efficient corporate governance for the benefit of stakeholders. - Bernama
