Scan promotes Mak to executive deputy chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: The boardroom tussle at Scan Associates Bhd took an interesting turn on Tuesday when executive director Mak Siew Wei was redesignated as executive deputy chairman and another person was appointed to the board.

The ICT security services provider told Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday that Teh Chee Hoe, who was appointed as chief executive officer earlier this month (Jan 8), had been made executive director.

During the company’s adjourned AGM last Friday, Datuk Norbik Bashah Idris, who resigned as CEO in June last year, and former director Yeoh Eng Kong were elected to the board.

At the same time, the resolutions to reelect two retiring directors -  Datuk Nik Ismail Nik Yusoff and Roy Winston George - were withdrawn.

Scan Associates has been involved in a boardroom tussle in which Mak and Norbik are seen to be in opposing camps.

With the appointment of Teh to the board, the board consists of three people seen aligned with Mak and two with Norbik.

Scan shares closed unchanged at 4.5 sen on Tuesday, with 300,000 shares traded.
