MALACCA: Veteran singer Datuk Khatijah Ibrahim, who owns Khatijah’s Kitchen Sdn Bhd, plans to expand her restaurant business to Los Angeles, California, soon.

Speaking to reporters after the opening of her outlet in Banda Hilir, she said discussions was now on-going with relevant authorities in Los Angeles to facilitate the opening of her first overseas outlet.

“We have been offered to open Khatijah’s Kitchen in Los Angeles and this is a good opportunity to expand outside the country,” she said.

Khatijah added that efforts were now underway to scout for a suitable location for the restaurant which would serve authentic Malaysian food.

Besides the Banda Hilir outlet, Khatijah’s Kitchen also operates an outlet each in Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam and the fourth would open mid-February in Port Dickson.

Khatijah has also been approached to produce all sorts of food paste, including for soups, to penetrate the halal market in the United States.

“We produce 14 different types of paste for the local and international market,” she said, adding that she was working closely with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp to market the product. - Bernama
