KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd
(TM) has inked a RM1.057bil deal with Puncak Semangat Sdn Bhd’s unit to provide digital terrestrial television (DTT) services over 15 years.
TM said on Tuesday it had signed a framework agreement with MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd to provide the DTT infrastructure, network facilities and related services in Malaysia.
“The DTT services shall be accorded to MTVB for a period of 15 years with an annual contract value of RM70.47mil,” it said.
TM said the framework agreement was to govern the general principle terms for the subscription of various telecommunication services and solutions for the DTT services by MTVB from TM, inclusive of data services, access services, managed services, broadcast services, ICT and BPO and infrastructure services.
MTVB was awarded the licence by the government to operate the infrastructure and network facilities for DTT in Malaysia, to realise the migration of analogue terrestrial broadcasting to digital throughout the country by 2016.
The initiative is under the purview of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia.
Both parties will enter into definitive agreements including broadcast service and provision of services.
