SEPANG: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) targets to achieve RM1.46bil in revenue from sales generated via its non-aviation segment this year compared with RM1.3bil last year.
"Airport operators around the world including MAHB is now moving forward to the non-aviation segment, especially from commercial revenue," said Senior General Manager-Commercial Services Division Faizah Khairuddin.
"The company has plans to grow a bigger portion of the non-aeronautical segment from the current contribution of 52 per cent to our total revenue," she said at a media conference after launching 'Indulge Till You Fly (ITUF) 2013-2014' campaign here today.
"We aim to grow up to two-thirds of revenue from non-aviation segment while one-third will come from aviation segment," she added.
She said this target was ambitious for MAHB but very viable because the group has a lot of opportunities that needed to be deliberated.
On the ITUF campaign Faizah said the campaign was part of MAHB's drive to raise awareness of the dual roles of its international airports, as transportation hubs and lifestyle destinations.
She also mentioned that during last year's campaign, the airport operator garnered a 134% hike in sales generated through the campaign while the average spend by travellers also went up by 50%.
"We are confident of achieving this year's target because we have a great team to convert the airports to become a wonderland for shopping spree," she added.
Malaysia Airports' 2013/2014 ITUF Campaign will start from tomorrow till Feb 28, 2014 at all international airports KLIA-LCCT-KLIA, Langkawi, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. - Bernama
