Every guest will be privy to a front-row experience, as the attraction is trackless, and features a wireless communication system to control the movement of 32 vehicles simultaneously.
The latest attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland is an immersive experience for visitors.
DISNEYLAND. The very word conjures up images of classic cartoon characters we grew up with, and its theme parks have always been touted to be “the happiest place on Earth”.
My experience of visiting Hong Kong Disneyland last month was indeed a happy one. But I do wonder how the staff feel as they have to deal with large crowds and overly aggressive tourists.
Entering the theme park on a sunny morning, I realised with a smile that my childhood dream of visiting Disneyland had come true.
We stayed at the park the whole day, and our evening ended with a glorious spectacle of the fireworks. They exploded in the sky above Sleeping Beauty’s castle, to the strains of familiar Disney tunes.
Besides its long-existing, popular themed areas such as Fantasyland, Adventureland and Tomorrowland, as well as Toy Story Land and Grizzly Gulch, visitors can now enjoy Mystic Point.
This attraction – opened in May – was specially created for Hong Kong Disneyland. By combining immersive storytelling with technology, Mystic Point is described as the first of its kind. It is an original, one-of-a-kind experience and, yes, it lives up to all the hype.
The opening of Mystic Point marked the final chapter of the current expansion project, which was completed one year ahead of schedule and effectively increases the size of Hong Kong Disneyland by 25%.
The new area is comprised of the Mystic Manor, which features one of the most sophisticated ride systems ever built by Disney. There is also a themed photo area, new restaurant and merchandise location, all combining to play an important role in creating a fully immersive experience within the park.
Mystic Manor is home to brand new characters, special effects and architecture, each of which seamlessly blends with state-of-the-art technology designed to transport guests into a strange, fantastic universe.
The story follows the adventures of eccentric explorer and art collector, Lord Henry Mystic and his Victorian manor house, and invites guests to board the “Mystic Magneto-Electric Carriage” for a tour of his private museum. (Young visitors will love Lord Henry’s inquisitive pet monkey.)
The projection technology creates unique visuals, resulting in inanimate objects such as armoured guards and paintings springing to life. Throughout, there is a haunting tune and special music overlay, created by renowned composer Danny Elfman.
Every guest will be privy to a front-row experience, as the attraction is trackless, using Radio Frequency Identification tags and a wireless communication system to control the movement of 32 vehicles simultaneously.
Also part of Mystic Point is the Explorer’s Club Restaurant, where guests can enjoy Asian cuisine as well as halal-certified food amid a vast collection of unusual artifacts from around the world. Exclusive curios and collectibles are available at the Archive Shop for purchase.
If you ever drop by Hong Kong Disneyland, remember to visit the Mystic Manor. You must NOT miss this!
