LIFE is chock-full of things that threaten to drive us up the wall. At times, this could be due to mind numbing boredom, and on a different occasion, it might involve some form of frustration or anger. Or it could merely be because we’re in a quandary over a tough decision we have to make.
Regardless of what the reason for it may be, it usually helps us feel a little better when we realise that what we’re going through isn’t an experience that we face alone, but is in fact something that many others encounter too. Add a dash of humour on top of that, and things will end up being not so bad after all.
Well, this seems to be more or less the motivation behind visual comedy strip, Truth Facts, which highlights the absurdity of modern day living and how it affects people.
Created by the same people behind Wumo, (i.e. comedian Mikael Wulff, and illustrator/animator Anders Morgenthaler), it has a similar format in the sense that it is presented in a single frame each time.
However, what’s different about Truth Facts when compared to Wumo is that it uses infographics rather than illustrations to deliver its message. What this means is that you will typically see things such as bar charts, pie charts or statistics depicted through a quirky bunch of images or symbols.
This unique choice of visual communication, coupled by the fact that the topics chosen for the comic are very easy for most of us to relate to, is probably why Truth Facts has gained a lot of traction online recently.
After having gone through many of the Truth Facts strips, I’ve found that the one that tickled me the most was the one about writing e-mail messages and how we often only notice the typos we’ve made after we’ve already hit the Send button.
