Rinspeed to make CES debut with an autonomous car concept

Added value: The Rinspeed Etos concept car has its own drone.

For the first time in the Swiss car design company's history, it is set to premiere its latest avant-garde creation in the US rather than Europe.

The Etos concept can drive itself but is still a sportscar for those moments when the conditions are just too good for a serious driver not to enjoy.

When hands-on time is necessary, a steering wheel emerges from the dashboard and there's no need to worry about unseen obstacles or surprises around the corner.

The car comes with its own drone that can film what's happening, carry on further up the road to send back images, or literally go out for pizza. The car even has its own drone landing platform at the rear.

Of the decision to debut the car in Las Vegas in January 2016 rather than at the Geneva Motor show, Rinspeed's owner, Frank M. Rinderknecht said: "The major and especially the disruptive innovations in future automotive engineering will come from the digital realm. That is why all major manufacturers and suppliers are now present at the CES Consumer Electronic Show." — AFP Relaxnews
