Pioneering airline: Delta is the first American carrier to allow flyers to book and pay for their flight with their phone.

Delta has become the first US airline to launch Apple Pay, allowing flyers to buy their plane tickets directly from their iPhones.

While JetBlue became the first US airline to accept Apple Pay in-flight for purchases of onboard snacks and amenities, Delta has laid claim to becoming the first American carrier to allow flyers to book and pay for their flight with a few taps of their phone.

The feature is available within the Fly Delta app.
