CAPE TOWN: The rapid spread of mobile phones across Sub-Saharan Africa is transforming the region, but record levels of growth are due to slow sharply, an industry report said this week.
The industry contributed more than US$100bil (RM411.47bil) to the region’s economy last year – equivalent to 5.7% of gross domestic product, according to a study released at a conference in Cape Town by the GSMA association which represents mobile operators.
