Another tragic shooting: People taking part in a candlelight vigil following the Umpqua Community College a mass shooting, which may have been publicised on an anonymous chat forum beforehand.

NEW YORK: A chain of messages posted to an anonymous chat board known for its explicit conversation threads and graphic images included an ominous warning on Sept 30 not to go to school on Oct 1 "if you are in the northwest."

The anonymous postings and numerous replies appeared on the site 4chan.org hours before a 20-year-old gunman opened fire at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, on Oct 1, killing and wounding an as yet undetermined number of people.
