Smartphone shipments up 42% in first half of 2015

Bumper numbers: Smartphone sales in Malaysia hit 4.8 million units in the first half of 2015 alone, said IDC.

KUALA LUMPUR: The smartphones and tablets shipped to Malaysia grew by 42% and 15% to 4.8 million units and 900,000 units respectively in the first half of 2015 (1H2015), as compared to the same period last year. 

According to International Data Corp (IDC) Asia/Pacific Quarterly Mobile Phone and Tablet Trackers, the smartphone market continued to be dominated by China and Taiwan vendors, while the tablet space remained dominated by global vendors.
