Good news Dota 2 fans - you can now catch the grand final of The International 2015 on the big screen, as TGV will be screening it live this Saturday.
Due to the time difference, the Malaysian TI5 Pubstomp event will take place at 1am (Aug 9) at TGV 1 Utama.
Tickets are priced at RM25 each, and includes a bottle of mineral water and unlimited entries to the cinema hall as the tournament is expected to last up to eight hours.
Malaysia’s hope was dashed when Fnatic, which featured an all-Malaysian lineup, was taken out by Russia’s Virtus Pro on Monday in a knockout match.
However, we still have a lone Malaysian – “ChuaN” Wong Hock Chuan – in China’s Invictus Gaming to root for in the tournament.
Invictus Gaming was placed second in The International 2012, making ChuaN the only Malaysian to have gone so far.
Other teams worth watching out for are LGD Gaming, EHOME, Team Secret, Evil Geniuses and MVP Phoenix.
The total prize pool is US$18mil (RM69.7mil) which makes The International the most lucrative eSports tournament in history. The champion will walkaway with a whopping US$6.5mil (RM25.2mil).
According to TGV, the demand for tickets have been overwhelming.
“In fact, tickets for two halls were sold out within 30 minutes after they went on sale,” said TGV Cinemas senior marketing manager Celeste Koay.
“To meet the demand we are opening two additional halls with a total of 289 seats.”
This is not the first time TGV is providing alternative content, as in the past it has screened the FIFA World Cup 2014.
The tickets are available for sale on TGV’s website and mobile app, and customers can also purchase them at its 1 Utama branch.
