Much ado about hairdos: Ashley Tisdale shows off her new hairstyle on Instagram. Photo: AFP Relaxnews

Need hair inspiration for summer? Look no further than Instagram, where your favorite celebrities are busy unveiling their latest look revamps, often helpfully tagging their hairstylists in the process.

FKA Twigs is the latest star to get on board, uploading this photo of herself going for the chop alongside the caption "inches and scissors never hurt anybody." The mysterious snap shows off a new chin-length bob for the UK musician, styled in loose curls.

Actress and singer Ashley Tisdale also took to the social media site last week to show off her new textured 'lob' (that's a long bob to you and me), crediting her stylist for her good work. "Short shorts and short hair by: my favorite @kristin_ess," she wrote. Tuesday she was at it again, this time debuting an incredibly covetable new shade of bronde (between blonde and brunette), courtesy of the same hairdresser.

Other stars using their Instagram accounts to break the news of their makeovers before the paps get them include J.Lo, who made headlines with her "Short hair don't care..." post earlier this month, showcasing a cute feathered style as opposed to the voluminous extensions we have become accustomed to from the global superstar. The picture has since received over half a million likes from fans.

The trend for dramatic Instagram hair makeovers began to take hold back in the spring, when supermodel Tyra Banks revealed a drastic new pixie cut captioned with the phrase "It's about time." Her elegant style was cropped close to the neckline, with a steep gradient and longer strands on top serving as bangs to soften the look.

Around the same time, actress Vanessa Hudgens lightened her load by kissing goodbye to her mid-length tresses and opting for a jawline bob. "Who needs a lob when you can have a bb (blunt bob)!!" the star crowed on her Instagram account. Then last week she did a U-turn and logged in to let us see her new extensions, crediting her creative stylists with the message "Can you paint with all the colors of the wind? @riawnacapri @nikkilee901 @ninezeroone".

So there we have it – hair today, gone tomorrow, instant inspiration. — AFP Relaxnews
