IDEAS PLEASE!: Sony has a crowdfunding platform to encourage innovation among its workers.

First Flight is Sony's new crowdfunding and e-commerce platform designed to raise money for projects designed by Sony employees.

As part of its desire to encourage new business ideas, Sony has launched a crowdfunding platform to get its employees' ideas off the ground and encourage innovation.

First Flight is part of Sony's Seed Acceleration Program, designed to fast-track business ideas and foster Sony's history of innovative creativity while engaing in a dialogue with customers throughout the phases of a product's development.

Kazuo Hirai, president and chief executive officer of the Sony Corporation explains in a press release: "Sony itself originated as a start-up, and through the Seed Acceleration Program we are challenging ourselves to return to our entrepreneurial roots."

Those who contribute to First Flight will also be able to buy and pre-order the devices. Although, for the moment this is only available to Japanese consumers. — AFP Relaxnews
