BIG FOLLOWING: Wattpad has enjoyed a mainstream boost thanks to Canadian author Margaret Atwood, who contributed the collaborative story The Happy Zombie Sunrise Home to the site.

In her influential annual report on Internet trends, venture capitalist Mary Meeker highlighted the social reading platform Wattpad and its user-generated content as part of an important and rising trend.

Launched in 2006, Wattpad is essentially a writing community on which users can post their writings – articles, stories, fan fiction or poems, for example – and read others' via an app or online.
