Apple has filed an application with the US patent and Trademark Office detailing a method for "shielding electronics from moisture."
The application dated March 2015 and published, was first noticed by Apple Insider and describes a process for making iPhones and iPads water resistant by coating their internal components, meaning that devices could be protected from the elements without sacrificing external design.
Waterproofing has become an integral feature on many premium Android smartphones. The trend was started by Sony but other companies, including Samsung have since followed suit.
However, for its latest premium handset, the Galaxy S6, unveiled on March 1, Samsung has had to drop the feature. This, ironically is down to its choice of premium materials for the handset's construction, which, unlike the plastic casings usually favored by the company, can't simply be sealed against the elements. — AFP/RelaxNews
