There's a new wearable available and it's got much more interesting things to track than your steps: Trace is interchangeable between skiing, surfing and snowboarding and can quantify your airtime, speed, distance, turns completed and vertical height achieved. 

The device weighs less than 1.4 ounces and attaches to surfboards, skis and snowboards to give athletes a glimpse of how much power they pack into tricks or how much speed they build up.
