GOING GREEN: 82% of US adults believe that recycling old electronics will be good for the environment but only a third actually do so.

Its latest biennial Recycling and Reuse Study finds that 82% of US adults now believe that recycling old electronics is important, and 98% of respondents say that they would be prepared to travel some distance in order to recycle a device.

However, despite this awareness and perceived commitment to going the extra mile for the sake of the environment, only one third of respondents had actually formally recycled a device over the past year. Still, as the CEA highlights, that figure is up 4% from 2012 (the last time the survey was conducted) and the survey found that recycling through gifting older devices to others, particularly friends and family, is also growing in popularity.
