The Flame Base Layer from Toronto-based start-up FuelWear may run on batteries, but it's washable and it senses when you need more heat and when you need to cool down, eliminating the need to shed layers during winter outdoor activities.

For example, during a day of downhill skiing or snowboarding, you're likely to work up a sweat on the slopes, but standing in the lift line can bring your body temperature right back down again. This shirt wants to change all that.
